Bicycle Shops

Bergen County is perfect for bicycles.  We have mountains up north, an off-street Saddle River Trail and plenty of wide local back roads.  It is a great area, but where should you purchase new bikes and accessories or even get your bikes serviced?

UPDATE (October 2009)

I kind of broke my girlfriend’s bike and quickly ran over to the store and dropped it off.  The guys said 1 day as their standard repair turnaround time, yet on my way out, they said… “Mike, got 20 minutes?”  I said yes and maybe 15 minutes later, it was fixed and we drove to the park and were rocking in rolling in about an hour. It was GREAT!  Such great service!

Campmor (Paramus) has amazing service, a higher end selection of bikes and they know their product.  They will recommend the best bike for you and get you on the road that day.  They had Star Wars and Sierra Nevada bike jerseys in stock last weekend! Campmor is my favorite camping store, for obvious reasons.

The Bikeworks (Rochelle Park) has really unfriendly, almost to the point of rude people working there.  I went in on two separate occaisons and the people were not interested in helping.  I also have a few friends that experienced the same vibe.  I haven’t been back.

Ski Barn (Paramus) is where my girlfriend bought her bike.  It was the end of the year clearance event and it worked out well.  Ski Barn is a seasonal retailer meaning they may not sell bicycle products year round.

Ramsey Outdoors (Ramsey & Paramus) sells bikes.  I’ve been there but never to check out bikes.

Bicycle II (Paramus) sells some higher end bikes too.  I have been inside but did not purchase anything, yet my friend bought a really cheap leftover saddle there.  I think it was around 80% off or something crazy like that.

There are so many more bike shops in Bergen County, luckily for us. Below is a list of others.

What are you experiences? Do you have a favorite or least favorite? Where’s your favorite place to bike?
