Sweet, filled with fruit or full of carbs, pierogi are a staple in any Polish diet and below are a list of a few places that you get purchase the best ones around. Mrs T’s got nothing on these fresh and homemade treats.

Piast has two locations in Garfield. One on River Drive and the other on the corner of River and Passaic. Both spots are retail store fronts, but according to the signage and this article from Second Helpings, Piast is opening a restaurant right next door to their location on Passaic & River. The pierogi are wonderful at Piast. I’d recommend the sweet cheese or mushroom.
Royal Warsaw, Elmwood Park, which also owns the Royal Manor in Garfield, has house made pierogi. I’ve had the mushroom and cabbage as well as the sweet cheese. They don’t compare to Piast’s, but they are great nonetheless. I love the cold borscht at Royal Warsaw, so try that too.
The Polish Kitchen, also in Garfield, has been around for about 15 years, but I’ve never been there. I think I’ll stop by after seeing their menu. I believe you can eat there or take food to cook at home.
Chefski’s, Wallington, was covered in butter and oil and I didn’t like it, but it’s cheap. You can get a lunch deal for $6 everyday.
Cracovia Manor, in Wallington, is a banquet hall and restaurant/bar that I’ve never been to. I’ve heard it’s good. Their website’s in Polish though and the English version doesn’t work.
Do you know of other restaurants that have homemade pierogi? What’s your favorite?
