Garden State Plaza Movie Theater COMPLAINT!

ATTENTION
Garden State Plaza Management

If you plan on going to the mall to go to the movies, stick it out and try to find a spot around the movie theater area because they lock you out of going back through the mall after the mall officially closes and you need to walk completely around the perimeter of the building.  This is not announced on any informational signage, nothing on the mall PA system, no one at the movie theater tells you, it’s just ignored until you leave the theater and then the mall cop yells at you.  While, my first thought was to ignore the dude and walk through the mall, I thought, he may have called the Police so I proceeded to walk outside and 20 minutes around to the parking deck by Nordstrom.  The weather was ugly.  It was rainy, windy and cold and the dark parking lot and roads were poorly lit and unfriendly to the exterior mall walker.

You know, if you’re going to force people to walk around outside after 9:30 PM, tell people what’s up.  Alert the customer.  For the mall’s sake, they are lucky I’m in good health and managed to make it out without any harm.  Just be warned people, The Garden State Plaza Mall AMC Movie Theater forces you to exit the mall and walk around the perimeter of the mall if the mall is closed.  It’s NOT cool, not cool at all.

Who else has experienced this?  What did you think?

People are forced to do that because nobody sued them until now. Just start a lawsuit once and you will see how fast will things get changed for the good of the customer.

  • I was just complaining the other day about how the Plaza's exterior is extremely unfriendly to walkers. And thanks to the movie theater, parking there is even more horrendous, so how could they expect moviegoers to easily find a parking spot near the theater entrance? That's why I only use that movie theater on Sundays, now. If I go on a busy night, I usually go to Ridgefield Park, which is sadly empty all the time.

Plus, need it even be mentioned how dangerous it could be to walk 20 mins around that enormous parking lot? What if you're someone who goes to the movies alone, or met someone there and you're leaving separately? Too many risks.
  • This has been bugging me since the movie theater opened. I'm 8 months pregnant and the last time we went to the movies my husband basically told the mall cop we refused to walk around. We usually park in the garage by nordstroms/accross from macy's. The mall cop basically told us that they just wanted to wait until some teens/kids walked by and then they ushered us through to walk through the.mall. Its a ridiculous rule.

At the Palisades Mall you can walk through the entire mall after a movie. There are never any problems there because of it.
  • You're right about that. Palisades is my preferred mall, and I routinely walk all the way through it to get back to the car.
